IT IS THE MISSION OF Hockey Heroes for the Homeless to transform lives in Melbourne, Florida, by providing fundraising support to the homeless community. Our annual hockey tournament, featuring NHL Alumni, not only raises funds but also fosters community spirit. Participants engage in a thrilling experience while contributing to a noble cause. Through silent auctions and generous donations, we aim to create a sustainable impact, ensuring that every dollar goes towards helping those in need. Hockey Heroes Help the Homeless to create an annual hockey event that joins the professional alumni of the National Hockey League with individuals within the community for a tournament that gives back to the homeless community of Melbourne, Florida.

Jon Jehrio and Todd & Cyndi Pokrywa
Hockey Heroes for the Homeless began as a participant fantasy hockey experience in February, 2025, originally called Pucks with Pros, headed by Jon Jehrio. The proceeds of which were donated between Genesis House, Inc. in Melbourne, Florida, a 501(3)C organization which assists homeless women and children and older homeless adults, and the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition in Pittsburgh. In late 2025, Pucks with Pros transitioned to fully supporting Genesis House, and has now become Hockey Heroes for the Homeless.
Jon grew up in Niagara Falls and uses his love and passion for the game of hockey to help create and organize hockey events that alumni, participants, and fans will enjoy and remember. He has been involved in charity hockey events with alumni and participants since 2004.
Todd and Cyndi have been active supporters of Genesis House since 2015. Cyndi began volunteering with the Genesis House Annual Gala, assisting with the website and helping to create the annual newsletter. She eventually joined the Board of Directors and now focuses primarily on the annual hockey event.
Todd began supporting Genesis House in 2015 through direct donations from The Viera Company, where he serves as President. Hailing from Toronto, Canada, Todd has been immersed in hockey since he was a child, and after participating in the 2025 Pucks with Pros event, decided he wanted to be involved, on and off the ice!
